Inlet.org, New Progressive Web Portal

Wade Hudson
March 20th, 2002

With fresh, original content and selective links, Inlet.org announces an ad-free gateway to progressive and humanistic resources on the Internet.

Located at http://inlet.org and constructed by volunteers, this well-organized, non-commercial portal presents a broad range of highly selective, timely information and analysis in a user-friendly manner. Our national events calendar and comprehensive lists of progressive organizations make for a great activist tool, while our daily newscast links, quick search features, weekly recommendations, essays and art make for a great homepage!

Inlet.org includes the following unique features:

  • Progressive Webs -- a fast search engine that retrieves results from a select list of almost 6,000 web pages from more than 200 websites. Sources include progressive advocacy organizations, think tanks, and media.

  • National Progressive Events Calendar. A thorough list of nationwide progressive actions and events.

  • Weekly Recommended. Educational and entertaining, these links highlight resources that can enrich people's lives. Each week we suggest a webcast, CD, DVD, movie, book, website, TV program, and an activity.

  • Quote of the Day. A diverse selection, hand picked by Leonard Roy Frank, editor of Random House Webster's Quotationary.

  • Selective links to news, commentary, and public access websites, including one-click daily audio and weekly video.

  • A clear guide to progressive/humanistic websites, including an extensive list of activist and advocacy organizations.

  • Inlet Gallery. A collection of unique, open-minded art including introspective paintings and political cartoons.

  • Original writings, including "Toward Peace," which presents a vision of a new, harmonious society.

In addition, on its homepage, Inlet.org includes the following fresh content:

  • A current, top-priority E-action.
  • A monthly featured website.
  • A daily news article.
  • Born on this Day.

Edited by Brandon Faloona and Wade Hudson, Inlet.org welcomes additional volunteers who can provide assistance, including suggested additions or deletions to the website, as well as original writings and art.

In particular, suggestions are welcome concerning the National Progressive Events Calendar, the Internet Guide, Progressive Webs database, and Weekly Recommendations.

Please consider making Inlet.org your homepage and let us know what you like and dislike about our offerings.
