VIETNAM: Tons of Expired Coca Cola Materials Destroyed in Vietnam
Days before, municipal inspectors discovered almost 7.5 tons of aromatic spice material with 2003 expiry dates in the company's warehouse.
The case was reported to HCMC People's Committee which decided to set up an inspection squad with members from health and environment departments.
The squad then uncovered nearly five more tons of expired Coca-Cola soft drink manufacturing materials.
Dr. Nguyen Duc An, chief inspector of health department, said that Coca-Cola Vietnam had already produced 4,961 cases of Samurai energy drink powder from outdated materials.
Inspectors seized the remaining 113 cases of Samurai while a large amount had already been sold to the market, An said.
Health authorities began destroying the expired materials and products Monday morning in Binh Chanh district, a process estimated to take four consecutive days to complete.
The case is currently under investigation.
