CorpWatch Releases New Report on UN and Corporations

Greenwash + 10 -- The UN's Global Compact, Corporate Accountability and the Johannesburg "Earth Summit"

Today CorpWatch releases a new report called "Greenwash + 10 -- The UN's Global Compact, Corporate Accountability and the Johannesburg Earth Summit." The report documents corporate influence on the United Nations and calls on the UN to implement measures for accountability.

"Our report provides an approach to making sure Rio + 10 isn't just Greenwash + 10," said the author of the report, CorpWatch's UN Project Coordinator Kenny Bruno. "We still have hope that the UN can reflect the aspirations of the the world's peoples, but not if becomes further entangled in corporate partnerships."

The report is being released just days before the UN begins its first substantive preparatory meetings for the Rio + 10 Earth Summit in Johannesburg. At the same time, the World Economic Forum, which usually meets in Davos, Switzerland, is meeting for the first time just blocks away from UN headquarters in New York City.

The 16-page report is available at www.corpwatch.org/downloads/gw10.pdf. To receive a hard copy call: 415-561-6568.
