FIJI: Many have no jobs in Kuwait
Reports said that many security guards recruited from Fiji by Timoci Lolohea's Meridian Services Agency were still unemployed, two months after arriving in oil rich kingdom that borders war-torn Iraq.
The Minister for Labour, Kenneth Zinck, left Kuwait for England last week and was not very happy with what he saw, reports from Iraq said yesterday.
Reports said Mr Zinck learnt during his short tour that many security guards recruited from Fiji by Timoci Lolohea's Meridian Services Agency were still unemployed, two months after arriving in oil rich kingdom that borders war-torn Iraq.
To earn a living, many of the Fijian guards have found jobs in fields of work other then what they had initially applied for.
Speaking from London yesterday, Mr Zinck did not confirm or deny the reports, saying he would not comment until after he submitted a report on the trip to Cabinet.
However, he did confirm he would meet with Global Risk Strategies and Armourguard officials while in the British capital.
He said he would meet Triple Canopy officials when he travelled to the United States of America this week.
