One year ago today, Los Indignados (The Outraged) gathered in Puerta del Sol square in Madrid. These Spanish citizens were angry that their government was doing nothing about the economic crisis. They were angrier still at the banks and the unregulated corporations that were profiting at their expense. They refused to budge from Puerta del Sol square - and soon the news of their inspiring action spread.

That May 15 protest sparked a global movement called Occupy.

Today in New York, the financial capital of the world, members of the city council will vote on the Responsible Banking Act. If it passes, the city will be required to put billions of dollars in government money in socially responsible financial institutions. And this - says the New York Times  - is directly because of Occupy Wall Street. It's not just in that city: Los Angeles, Boston, and San Diego are considering similar resolutions.

We're asking you to do the same. Help us Occupy the World Wide Web by putting your money where it will make a difference.
